Continuing Onwards....

Short blog here folks from the Rock & Ice. Well, 3 days done, 3 to go! We are back at Matrix Village tonight to nice cozy tents and the town of Yellowknife. The K Rock racers are done here but those of us in the Diamond Race have another 3 days yet to go. Originally, we were not going to be able to leave the base camp but luckily, Scott has allowed us to go with the exception that we must sleep back at Matrix tonight.

So, here I am. We went and stuffed ourselves stupid with pizza and coke and then I limped over to Jonny and Lous' for a shower and to wash my clothes!! So great!! I have about another 1.5hrs and the I must return to camp and get to sleep. The shower felt awesome, as did real food. It's nice to be out of the camp.

And as for what is happening in the race.... well....on day #1, I stopped to adjust my snowshoe and just couldn't catch up to Denise again although I could see her the entire way in. Our pace has been identical. We ran all day yesterday together and then again today. With 6km to go, we pulled the snowshoes as we hit the ice road. My achilles is at its snapping point and I took my first few steps on the road and thought that it was going to blow!!! Luckily it didn't, but Denise put it into turbo and I couldn't respond. So, she put some more minutes on me today. (Note from Editor Mom - 16 minutes in total).

With that said, I am going to continue to do my best out here and just hope that the achilles holds. The next 2 days are a bit shorter which is good. I just want to stay healthy. Trying to remain positive and put my best foot forward (ahhh, that would be the right in case you were wondering :) I feel great other than my leg. Onwards I go........
