Days and weeks seem to be flying by faster than ever. I’m not sure where the time continues to go (it really is true that life speeds up the older we get) so as usual, I have been jam packing as much as possible into my days. However, it’s a different kind of busy and crazy now than it used to be. Life seems to be much more manageable. I have been working hard to limit the stress factors that seem to have always plagued me. With a month of R&R since returning from worlds in Portugal, I have focused my efforts on achieving more balance! Slowly but surely, I think I am getting there.
After 3 weeks up North in remote Hartley Bay, we are finally home back to Squamish and I’ve enjoyed some extra sleep-ins, visiting with friends, cooking in the kitchen and getting back on the training program. My new fluid spin bike continues to impress me and is allowing me to train once again without affecting my achilles. Oh yes, so the update there. I had a rough go in Hartley Bay with it as I was power walking for 2hrs a day. However, since returning home and seeing my miracle worker Laura Miller (RMT) in Squamish, we made HUGE gains of improvement in only 4 treatments. Laura has been using soft tissue release technique on the achilles and it has been night and day difference. No pain and stiffness in the morning and no pain after doing The Chief, Crossfitting and ski touring. I can’t thank her enough giving me the confidence once again that I will beat this nasty achilles issue. Laura and I have developed a game plan moving forward so that I will be ready for France in March. I have my sites on being able to run once again early in the new year!!!
In conjunction with Laura’s soft tissue release, I have been taking my Udo’s Oil on a regular basis as I know that getting those correct Omega’s is the key to healthy joints and tissues and healing. I am hoping to really get the Paleo Diet dialed in the new year and to spend 2010 getting a firm handle on my nutrition. The one thing that will not be compromised though is my Bean Brackendale coffee. Coffee stays! Period.
My race calendar for 2010 is coming together really nicely and I will post that to my website in the new year. Challenge by Choice has some great trips planned as well so if you are thinking of an expedition run, give some serious thought to joining me at the TCC runs (Panama, Bolivia and Costa Rica) this year!!!! Paradise awaits. Again, this will all be on my website very soon including some good discounts on registration and gear. Dream Big in 2010 and make it happen.
So, with that, I’m wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season filled with family, friends and adventure! I hope everyone is thinking about 2010 and all the great things the year will bring! Cheers to everyone!!!
Adventure onwards…..
