Most Memorable Race: Sinister 7 - a great Canadian epic!
Most disappointing Race Moment: Coyote 2 Moons - race being cancelled due to weather when I was 10miles from the finish! But....loved the race course.
Proudest Moments:
1) Stepping out of the water after the 10km swim at Ultraman
2) Pacing and crewing Mary Betts at her first Badwater 135 (and seeing her cross the finish line)
Biggest Accomplishment: Opening up the doors to the Challenge by Choice Performance Training Studio
Inspiring Moments:
1) watching my clients and athletes succeed! I now find that I am stressed out on weekends as I wait for race results to roll in!
2) seeing Norm's "Standup4GreatBear" video become a reality!
3) seeing the adventures of i2P unfold
Learning Moments:
1) Pushing through at TNF 100km in Australia with yet another sprained ankle
2) Racing with composure through Ultraman Canada to a first place finish and putting years of mental training into practice when I needed it the most
3) Purchasing a new home
4) Daily life at the studio - constantly challenged, I love it!
Scariest Moment: swim course at Oliver 1/2 Ironman - my first tri ever - full on panick attack, I thought I was done for!
What I missed the most: Not racing with my team DART Sport Multi on any adventure racing courses!
I proved to myself that: I can learn to do any sport if I just practice (example - swimming)
I am now certain that: Road running is not for me :) The mountains and trails have my heart.
Thoughts that got me through the hard times:
1) pain is so temporary, it will all be over soon and I will have a pillow under my head!
I'm ready for: some major major MAJOR epics!
Words that I lived by: Choose events/adventures/projects and daily actions that you WANT to do, not things that you HAVE to do!
Thoughts about 2012: it's gonna be the best and it's gonna challenge me more then anything has yet to date!
Thankyou's:
1) Norm, my #1 supporter, and all my family and friends near and far. Extra big hugs and thanks to best friends who fly huge distances to your events just so they can be there to support you :)
2) My sponsors who make my dreams a reality and support me inside and out through the good days and the bad days
3) My CBC family (including my co-coach JF) and all the amazing people who have come to trust me to guide them through achieving their own goals. I find inspiration in each of you!
4) My running and adventuring friends - we create memories that will always stay with me, you've helped me through the hard days more then you realize.
CHEERS to everyone from the bottom of my heart! Make sure you have set your goals for 2012 and stop at nothing until you have achieved them! Onwards we go, there are more adventures to be had, see you out there!
PS - we spent December in Hawaii and I ran a disappointing Honolulu marathon! However, I quickly pushed that to the side and enjoyed a great vacation. Norm has done a great write up on his blog! I can now officially check off my list watching the pro's throw down on Hawaii's North Shore.
PSS - I spent the last day of 2011 in Kelowna sporting Bob Purdy on his 365th day of SUP - Paddling for the Planet! Very proud of him and many others who continue to raise the bar and challenge each of us to be better people, do good for the planet and make a positive impact of change! It's got me thinking about 2012 and some ways to do my part.
