WHO:
Adventure athlete and i2P ambassador Jen Segger will be running and biking this expedition from
start to finish. Originally from Vancouver Island, her career as a professional athlete has taken her to
see some remote parts of the globe while pushing her body and mind ways she had not thought
possible. Jen is currently the youngest female in the world to have ever completed the grueling 135
mile Badwater Ultramarathon across Death Valley. Later this year she will be joining i2P on the crossing of the Akshayuk Pass on Baffin Island.
Ultra runners RobMacKay and Donald Peterson, two endurance athletes from Victoria and long time friends of Jen will be apart of the expedition, running several of the different trails and crewing along the way. Both are accomplished runners on their own, taking part in multi-day epic races such as Marthon des Sables, The Gobi March and the Coastal Challenge. Jen's adventure partner Norm Hann of Squamish, BC will be both running and overseeing the biking sections. Norm's strong leadership background of guiding backcountry trips and exploratory journey's along Canada's coastal waters will be a huge asset to the success of this trip. Norm and Jen recently completed the first Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) expedition on BC's remote coast in July of this year.
Inspirational Talks:
1iOpen Productions will be filming the expedition as it unfolds and as the team progresses down
the Island. The goal is to capture inspiration in action and the footage will be used by Jen to give
presentations to varying audiences such as schools, corporate and conference groups post expedition.
Jen believes that we all have it in us to reach a little higher. Please contact Jen if you would like to book an inspirational presentation!
Support:
Jen is proud to welcome SOLE Custom Footbeds as the official presenting sponsor of the Vancouver Island Quest. Post Expedition THANK YOU!
After 4 long days of non-stop travel, Jen and her crew met their goal of completing the entire length of Vancouver Island. The journey was a true team effort and an unforgettable experience. Over the
next few months,1iOpenProductions will be compiling all the film footage into a documentary and Jen
will be headed out to share her adventure and inspire others by visiting schools around BC. Please contact Jen to inquire and book your school.
The Vancouver Island Spine Trail
Please take a minute to look at this website www.vispine.ca
An amazing initiative from several groups and individuals around Vancouver Island who are working hard to join the Island from top to bottom via one long trail. While their purposed route is not the same as mine (the VI Spine is to run right through the center of the Island and my route choice takes me out to the West Coast) this will be an incredible journey once all the pieces are in place. Details on the VI Spine and how to support it are on their website.
